Some spy photos of the test of the prototype of supercar Chevrolet Corvette of the next generation has appeared on the network. The pictures were taken in the USA, where the coupe was tested in the conditions of the cold climate. It is expected that the premiere of the serial car will be in January of the next year at the Detroit Auto Show. According to the photos, the silhouette of the body of the next “Corvette” is similar to its predecessor, the novelty retained the round tail lights of the brand, which now seem to have become completely light-emitting diode, as well as the four pipe exhaust system. The last ones are set close to each other, whereas previously they were a little separated on both sides.
The seventh-generation supercar will be built on the upgraded rear-drive platform of its predecessor. In this case the mass of the new Chevrolet Corvette will be significantly reduced, by making extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber. In addition, previously vice president of General Motors, Karl-Friedrich Shtrake also confirmed, that the car will retain the front-layout. And in the range of engines only the V-shaped “eight” will continue to be present.
As clarifies the magazine “Car”, one of the units of the future “Corvette” will be the aluminum engine with direct fuel injection, high compression ratio and shutdown system of the cylinders at low loads. It is not also excluded the appearance of a seven-mechanical transmission, which first of all sports cars appeared on the new Porsche 911.
Chevrolet Corvette of the current generation is released since 2005. The car is offered with different versions of the eight-cylinder engines from 430 up to 638 horsepower.
