The cult British sports car Jaguar E-Type celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last year, in connection with what the Swedish design studio Vizualtech manufactured for a wealthy Swiss fan of Jaguar E – Type, supercar Growler E. Which was, the so called, the spiritual reincarnation of the cult British sports car. At the core of Vizualtech Growler E lay the landing gear of the sports car Jaguar XKR, there has been borrowed also the engine and the gearbox of the mentioned car. But the body is made of composite materials and the interior is produced anew by the Swedes. Allowing the car to be not only easier but also faster than the donor by exposing the “pumping” and the engine simultaneously. And, of course, it will cost more expensive- 420,000 Euros.
Some time there was no information about the development of this project, and it seemed that it had died before he could be born. All the more a similar event happens all the time. But it turned out that Growler E is alive and well developed. The developer of the design Vizualtech Growler E – the Swiss Robert Pelm – moved to England and founded the firm Lyonheart Cars, which will soon begin the small – scale production of the sports car Lyonheart K.
Lyonheart – it is not a typo. Robert Pelm specifically decided to change one letter in its name, as in the world, there are several companies bearing the name Lionheart: for example a car dealer in the U.S.A., a small shipyard, constructing boats and so on. Therefore, in order not to have any problems with the registration of the name, and it was decided to change one letter.
Pelm himself claims that Lyonheart K – is one hundred percent a British sports car in which all the best is embodied, which has never been famous for the car industry in the United Kingdom. In addition, each detail of the car is designed and manufactured in England. Despite such high – flown URA – patriotic statements, there is nothing surprising in them, as Lyonheart K, like its predecessor Vizualtech Growler E, is built on the aggregate basis of Jaguar XKR. The wheel base remained the same – 2.75 m, and the size has been slightly reduced. The length of the car – 4.74 m (- 5 cm), the width – 1.89 m (-18 cm). Due to the use of the aluminum and the composite materials from which are maid the body panels, Lyonheart K is up to 200 pounds lighter than the Jaguar XKR (1575 kg). From the top version of Jaguar XKR – S the five – liter eight – cylinder engine is borrowed and the mechanical supercharger with the capacity of 550 hp (680 N ∙ m) and the six – speed automatic transmission with the shift paddles. The first hundred Lyonheart K exchanged in 3.9 s, the same exercise Jaguar XKR carries 5.2 s, and the maximum speed is limited by the electronic “collar” at around 300 km / h.
The interior is trimmed with a special leather dressing, with precious woods and aluminum plates. The spiritual relationship with the Jaguar E – Type is emphasized by the wooden steering wheel “antique”, the 20 – inch alloy wheels with the wire spokes and the vintage mirrors.
Lyonheart Cars plans to launch its sports car with a circulation of 50 copies at a price of 495,000 Euros ($ 654,785) per one car. Orders are already being taken, but the first car will arrive to the customers not earlier then the autumn of 2013.
